It's Valentine's Day!

It's this time of the year again, I remembered myself complaining, getting jealous over others etc, all those negative attitudes.

Looking back to the past 5 Valentines days, I've came up with some mistakes that I've been constantly making.

Single People compare themselves with others around them. X

Reality check: Half of the people in the relationship are not nearly as happy in those relationships as they portray on the outside. A lot of them are not going to be in the relationship by this time next year. So in a way, if you are open yourself out there to meet new people right now, and they are stuck with the wrong person. You are actually further ahead than those people.(Me being super optimistic!)

Thinking I can't be romantic because I don't have someone with me.X

I do believe(from sometime last year) the things that we do for our life right now-studying new skill sets, exploring yourselves, growing ourselves, is an act of romance for our future relationships. So if i think about this Valentine's Day(this may sound silly), think about all the romantic things I can do for myself even tho I havent met that person. Eventually, one day, when that relationship comes, I'll be stronger, happier, kinder, more confident, more passionate. (I got so excited when i was typing this, he's a lucky guy :)

Buying Flowers on 14th Feb!X

I haven't received flowers for ages :( but I do think buying roses on Valentine's is an act of fulfilling a obligation.

You can pretty much buy them flowers any time of the year and it would be a romantic gesture, because it's unexpected. But on the 14th Feb, this day of year, as expected, buying flowers is just a generic thing.

What if you go outside and think about the gifts that mean something to your partner?

What does she like? What's my unique understanding of who she really is? What's weird about her?(I'm just weird in general). What's the funniest moments we had recently together?

When we start to ask questions like that, i guess it is not hard to find her a special present that actually shows who they are and what we know about her. This is ROMANTIC!

Spending moeny, but No messages! X

It's so common that guys take us out for Valentine's dinner, 90% is just dinner +flowers='Happy Valentines!'

For me, If i were given a card with handwritten messages in it, wow! I see it as a premium present, because you can spend all the money in the world, but those words really makes a difference, a huge difference!

Messages create meaning, and meanings creates a perfect gift.

Happy Valentine's People!
